District Annual General Meeting

The Inner Wheel Club of Singapore which was tasked to host the District Annual General Meeting for 2019-2020 formed the Organising Committee as early as July 2019. Under the able leadership of PP Roshan Mistri, the committee comprising of representatives from Singapore clubs, quickly decided on the dates and venue, as well as the theme for the Fellowship Night Dinner which had been the highlight of the gathering of clubs from Singapore and East Malaysia.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the ensuing pandemic, travel between the two countries were curtailed and strict regulations were put in place by February 2020 to prevent the spread of the illness.
Various alternatives were explored on how to conduct the business side of the DAGM, including the use of proxy voting. With the assistance of the District webmaster, DC Shirin and DS Maria put together video conferencing tools to facilitate the meeting.
Training sessions were held prior to the meeting to familiarise delegates with the use of the Zoom app.
On 15 May 2020 , the District Executive Committee and 17 Delegates gathered at 11:00 AM to discuss the Agenda, confirm the appointment of new officer bearers to serve in the District Executive Committee 2020-2021 and adopt the financial and other reports.
Some 33 observers from seven clubs were also present to witness the historic event.
The meeting ended on a happy note at 1:10 PM and possibly with a great sigh of relief by District Exco. Together we can adapt and adopt New Technology!
