District Chairman Datin Gillian Lee’s official visit to our Club was held via video conferencing on 20th October 2021. 26 members attended.

President Sita Verma welcomed DC Datin Gillian Lee and presented the Club activities and meetings since July 2021. She illustrated how through the variety of projects and activities, the Club had been fulfilling the four goals set for the year – to increase membership, empower women & youth and build up leadership in the Club.

ISO Rajani Singh then presented the Club’s efforts to reach out to clubs all over the world and non-districted clubs in particular.

DC Datin Gillian Lee then gave her address. She advised on administrative matters and updated members on all district and club issues. It was very interesting to know about the ongoing projects in the district.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month, so IWCS invited breast cancer survivor, Vandana Aggarwal to share her experience. Vandana’s story is common with the prevalence of breast cancer but each one’s journey is unique. Her striking openness about her fear and need for bravery, her treatment and her family support was inspiring and moving. Vandana shared that she was a well-placed educator at the point of her diagnosis but cancer and her time for reflection caused her to change direction and she is now an author and journalist. Her illness was a pivotal experience which she felt comes with slowing down, feeling so vulnerable and having time to think about the purpose of life. After her personal narrative, Club member Dr Divya Panicker presented informative slides on the Medical & practical aspects of breast cancer and how to examine our breasts and the benefits of regular medical checks. All were so appreciative of the talk and the advice."
